About Dorchester’s Foodbank

Dorchester’s Foodbank was set up more than 12 years ago to help those living in the DT1 and DT2 postcode areas who are struggling financially and who are unable to feed themselves or their family. Each of our food parcels contains enough non-perishable tinned and dried food to provide sufficient nutrition for individuals and families for at least three days of healthy, balanced meals. A wide range of personal hygiene and household products are also available.

Foodbank works closely with professionals such as social workers, health visitors, schools and Citizens Advice so that anyone in crisis, who has no food or money to buy food, can be issued with a Foodbank voucher. This can then be exchanged for a food parcel (see “How can I receive a food parcel” for more information).

Foodbank is run from the Dorford Centre, Bridport Road, Dorchester, DT1 1RR (opposite the Top O' Town car park) on the times shown below.

Dorchester Foodbank operates an online referral system and a new referral is required for each food parcel.

How can I receive a food parcel?

Dorchester’s Foodbank is for people in financial crisis. However, in these uncertain times, we recognise that many more people may need help to provide food for themselves and their families. If you need support, please ask for help and advice.

A referral to Foodbank can be obtained from health visitors, social workers, schools, church leaders and other community organisations. The main voucher holder is Citizens Advice, 1 Acland Road, Dorchester, DT1 1JW   Tel: 0800 144 88 48  www.centraldorsetca.org.uk

Please follow the signs directing you where to collect parcels.

Dorchester Foodbank is here to help anyone who needs support at this time.

Together, we can get through this crisis – please remember that you’re not alone.

I would like to donate to the Foodbank

Dorchester Foodbank is funded by donations of food from various churches, schools and people in and around Dorchester as well as by gifts of money from individuals and from the church itself.

During the pandemic, we were overwhelmed with support from the community in terms of money, donations of food, new volunteers and drivers as home delivery became important. Now that the threat of Covid 19 has receded, it has been replaced by the cost of living crisis which is beginning to have a huge impact on our clients.

If you would like to make a donation of tinned/packet food items or personal care/household products (see below), these can be left in the foyer at The Dorford Centre on any weekday during office hours

If you would like to make a financial donation to Foodbank, please send your cheque, made payable to 'Dorchester Foodbank', to the address below.  Alternatively, if you bank online, our account details are: Account name: Dorchester Foodbank, Sort Code: 20-11-43, Account number:: 63806006. If you are a taxpayer, please consider Gift Aiding your donation. Click this link for for a Gift Aid Declaration Form.
