How wonderful God is that he loves the intimacy with me even when all I want to do is wrestle with him because I have a problem. His arms around me are always loving so that in the end my wrestling changes into a loving embrace and I am at peace with myself again. :)

I think you could be right with "May we know and truly experience a Pentecost!" As you read on in 2Cor 3 v.3 with the Spirit v.4 through Christ v.5 from God. v.6 of the Spirit . . . . .the Spirit gives life.
We love and serve a living God(v.3)He gives us abundant life, we are called to be and bring life and blessing.
If all people see/read is our 'letter' then we are their theology (view of God). So let's live(in the Spirit by His grace)!

Amen to that Harry. In recent years God has answered in amazing ways, the many prayers from DBC for musicians and worship leaders, children and families, and a modern building that meets the needs of the church family & community and brings glory to the Father. We must stay close the the Father in prayer and seek to share His love in our needy world. Our faithful God has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us. With this assurance, we can step out in confidence to undertake the calling he has placed on our lives.

I found that part of "who moved the egg" very moving too.... When Jesus left his body (boiler suit) on the cross and tenderly lifted the theif into his arms. I thought he portrayed that beautifully.

Holy Sinners?
God wouldn’t ask us to become something that was impossible for us to do!

Paul identified this problem

"I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life."
                                                                                                                                                        Rom 6:19-22
Notice that a benefit of being made a ‘slave to God’ is that it leads to a holy life.

How can this happen? By the Holy Spirit.

"So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law." Gal 5:16-18

How can this happen? By the word of God.

The Holy Sprit brings the word of God into our hearts. Jesus prayed, "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth." John 17:17.

Are we holy sinners? Yes! The only way to live a holy life as a Christian is to submit to the control of the Holy Spirit in every area of our life. So, holiness is not just about sinning less, but becoming more like Him.

Harry
So the church is a living building and each of us is a living stone in it. So what of those who regard a building of mere bricks and mortar as a sacred space to be defended at all costs from spritual polution or defilement?

Steve,
You raise an interesting point but I am not sure it negates mine!
I agree, we are all challenged to pray, and pray more in a personal context but, “where two or three come together....” (Matthew 18:20).

On the other issue, I am normally accused of blinding people based on the sheen of my head! ;-)

I think this chap may have point, there is a balance to be struck here. However is Harry writing about worship services or about personal christian disciplines? I think its the latter.
Is Lee the guy who blocks the light in the front row?

I think the point made is important and perhaps, needs the appropriate weight in the gathering on Sunday!? Perhaps we could re-evaluate the time we currently spend in various other expressions of worship and devotion in our corporate time together at Church and focus more on this area? If communication with God is key, should it not have more time??
