Prayer Requests
At DBC we believe that prayer works. We believe that God wants to play an active part in our lives.
We have a team of people here at DBC that will happily pray for you. If there is something that you would like them to pray about fill out the form below and you can be certain that you will be prayed for. Also, don’t forget that if you see God answer that prayer to let us know!
For people to come to Christ
For a long time DBC/Dorford has been able to attract enough new people to sustain itself and even grow slowly. Over the years a number of young people have made Christian commitments, been baptised and moved away in the normal course of education or finding work. We know it is God’s will that men and women of all ages, as well as teenagers and children, should come to him. Please pray that we will become increasingly a church that brings people into a life changing encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Also pray that those, young and not so young, who are not yet baptised, will be challenged to come forward.
Development of the Square Mile initiative
As a church we draw members from a wide area but feel a strong call to have a greater impact on the community in the immediate vicinity of the Dorford Centre, our “Square Mile”. Please pray that God will continue to reveal to us how we can serve him in the areas of Mercy, Influence, Life discipleship and Evangelism and that we will plan and act in accordance with his will and the strength of the Holy Spirit.
Leadership team
Pray for Harry and Justyn as they lead us in preaching and teaching the word, worship, pastoral care, youth activity and social action. Also pray for the deacons who also have specific responsibilities, particularly as they affect the day to day running of the church. Please pray now for a fresh generation of younger leaders to be called and recognised as others step down over the next two years.
Weekly children and youth work
We want children and young people to see the love of Jesus demonstrated and also to learn about the bible and faith, while having fun in a safe and joyful atmosphere. Pray for all involved with leading Junior Church, Kids and Co, React, Toast and Jezza, that they will not be overburdened and that more suitable helpers will be found. Also, that all we be kept safe and free from any harm.
Messy church
This is a new ministry which we hope will appeal to whole families, dads as well as mums and kids. Please pray that it will be an exciting time for helpers and guests, that the themes will be clearly communicated and that this will serve as an effective follow up to holiday club and a way of building up our contacts with children and families.
Food bank
Pray that this work will be effective in bringing help to people in need and will be recognised in the wider community as a demonstration of Jesus love and how the church can act mercifully in the public arena.
Marriage Enrichment Course
There has long been a recognised need for such a course in the church. Please pray that time and space can be found in a busy church programme to bring this into being in the New Year.
West Bay
We need to have a clear understanding of what God wants us to do. It may be that the redundant Methodist chapel goes for other uses but perhaps our eyes and attention were simply being turned in that direction because there is a need which we can in some way help to fill. Please pray for clear vision with regard to West Bay and Bridport.
